Shot in the woods of Patvinsuo national park and Muurame, this video was done in a rather ex-tempore manner. I decided to go with a minimalist approach to the narrative in this one.

I have been making music videos for the Finnish all-star metal band Mercury Circle (featuring members from Children of Bodom, Swallow the Sun, Iconcrash, Rytmihäiriö, To Die For and Hanging Garden) for some years now. The latest one was shot in the basement of Bodom’s Jaska Raatikainen. The style chosen for this piece carries a flair of 90’s MTV music videos in my opinion!

This video for my band Hanging Garden was co-written and produced with professional dancer Arttu Peltoniemi, who also corographed and scripted the piece. The narrative is built around the concept of dualism between anxiety and release, despair and hope.

Hanging Garden - Kuura

Kuura is the opening track of my band Hanging Garden’s latest full-length album Skeleton Lake. The song is written and composed by me, and arranged together with our producer Jussi Hämäläinen. I shot the video during me and my wife and co-singer Riikka’s honeymoon in Lapland, in the Kaldoaivi wilderness.

This was the first video shot with my current gear, and with help from great fellow musicians Eero Järvenpää from Ever Circling Wolves and Pentti Yrjänäinen from Helsinki Balalaika Orchestra we were able to make a very emotive video, that I find depicts well the crushing weight and feel of pressure of the song, which I sing in duet with my wife Riikka.
